چکیده

An improved version of motion-adapted gating useful in MR imaging is presented. Compared to other gating approaches, this advances method shows an improved ability to suppress motion artefacts at a reduced scan time. It is based on a k-space dependent weighting function and a realtime system feedback. During MR data acquisition patient motion ismonitored and only those profiles are accepted whose respiratory motion induced displacements are below a pre-defined threshfold (gating) function. The displacements are measured relative to a reference position, which is automatically determined during the initial phase of the MR scan. While MR data are acquired, the object motion is statistically analysed in parallel by calculating the histogram of the displacement distribution for consecutive time intervals. This information can be used to interfere with the measurement process in the case that motion statistics changes during the scan. Initial in-vivo results are presented and compared to conventional techniques.

Accelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...

ANALYTICAL STUDY OF EFFECT OF BILAYER INORGANIC AND ORGANIC COATING AROUND THE IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES ON MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CONTRAST

Background & Aims: In recent years, iron oxide nanoparticles have been used in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosing a wide range of diseases. In order to provide biocompatibility and prevent the toxicity of the nanoparticles, using organic or inorganic coating around these nanoparticles is important for their application. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect...

Automated Detection of Motion Artefacts in MR Imaging Using Decision Forests

The acquisition of a Magnetic Resonance (MR) scan usually takes longer than subjects can remain still. Movement of the subject such as bulk patient motion or respiratory motion degrades the image quality and its diagnostic value by producing image artefacts like ghosting, blurring, and smearing. This work focuses on the effect of motion on the reconstructed slices and the detection of motion ar...

3d Multi-slab Diffusion-weighted Readout-segmented Echo-planar Imaging with Real-time Cardiac-reordered K-space Acquisition

Introduction Readout-segmented EPI (rs-EPI) improves diffusion-weighted (DW) image quality through multi-shot, navigated acquisition (1-4). A natural extension of this technique would be a 3D rs-EPI trajectory, enabling more efficient acquisition at SNR-optimal TRs (1-2s), acceleration along multiple dimensions and the acquisition of thin slices. However, the data acquisition and reconstruction...

Diagnosis of Meningitis Caused by Pathogenic Microorganisms Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Systematic Review

Introduction: Bacterial meningitis is an acute infectious inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain. Its early diagnosis is vital because of its high morbidity and mortality. It is mostly diagnosed by a gold standard diagnostic tool i.e. Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) analysis. However, it is sometimes difficult and or impossible to do this procedure and an alternative diagnostic t...
